KillerWatt®

This System is capable of measuring, controlling and optimising electricity consumption for entire businesses such as hotels, restaurants, professional dry cleaners, retirement homes and hospitals, blocking consumption levels that exceed the
contractual power capacity and obtaining real electricity savings.

Considerations:

these types of businesses often use equipment that draw high levels of electricity such as: washing machines, dish washers, dryers, irons, fryers, ovens, hot plates, grills, saunas, air conditioners etc;
The electricity supply utility provides the maximum power capacity to be used over an average of 15 minutes; practically speaking, a certain amount of power capacity is made available (kWh)to be used every 15 minutes (contractual power  : 4 = power to be used in 15
minutes) and any surplus value results in an automatic recalculation of the bill for the entire month or sometimes even the entire year.
At a design level, all the loads have the same priority, i.e. equipment is switched on and off without allowing for any other equipment that may be connected at the time.

Obviously, as a result, the risk of exceeding the contractual capacity peak, even for only a quarter of an hour, is very high. For this reason we have developed hardware and software in order to produce System capable of instantaneously reading the power consumed being consumed by an entire business, comparing this value (over the 15 minute period) with the maximum power value set in the software, and, if the first value tends to exceed the second, check the loads connected in order to reduce their power consumption (in practice, by limiting the use of too much equipment at the same time, or completely or partially disconnecting pre-established resistive loads).

This operation is performed in the following order:

the power consumption  is monitored continuously from the start of the 15 minute period
the input is mapped until the end of the 15 minute period
when the power forecast exceeds the set power value, all the connected loads  are controlled one by one
connected loads are reactivated if residual energy becomes available within the 15 minutes.

The strategy behind this procedure is based on the fact that not all the equipment is essential at any given moment, high power consumption equipment that can be momentarily de-energised without repercussions for the production process or equipment.

The System can be used to assign the correct amount of power to each individual piece of available equipment, without exceeding the established maximum value, turning resistive loads on or off  for set periods, thus avoiding excessive heat loss or hunting (excessive switching ). In order to avoid dangerous input peaks caused by turning too much equipment on at the same time, the System enables the user to re-insert the loads gradually, and, if necessary to control the loads that require specific conditions in order to be switched on or off (refrigerators, air conditioners), as controlled by temperature, pressure or other types of probes.
